Makes 1 (9x9-inch) pan
4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/3 cup soft butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 9x9-inch pan.
Spread the apples into the pan.
Sprinkle the apples with water, cinnamon and salt; set aside.
In a bowl, work together with a pastry blender the sugar, flour and butter until crumbly.
Spread the crumb mixture over the apples.
Bake 40 minutes uncovered in the preheated oven. (Do not overbake -- just to a light golden color).
