3 strips bacon
1 pound fresh string beans,
2 cups fresh tomatoes, cut into pieces
2 Tablespoons boiling water
1/4 cup white wine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1 teaspoon each, basil, oregano, parsley
one chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
Fry bacon until crisp.
Wash beans, remove tips and cut into
1 " pieces.
Add to bacon fat, along with all other ingredients.
Cover and cook slowly about 30 -40 minutes until beans are crisp and tender.
Serve hot with bacon crumbled on top.
