Prime Rib - Fool-Proof Rib Roast
Sometimes the best thing of all is the easiest...and the only thing easier than this is getting a glass of water!
Ingredients:
1 rib roast (bone-in or boneless), at room temperature
seasoning to taste (I season mine with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 500º F.
Season roast and place uncovered in a roasting pan.
Roast according to the following table:
5 minutes per pound for rare
6 minutes per pound for medium/rare
7 minutes per pound for medium
After the roasting period, turn oven OFF and do not open for 2 hours.
I usually roast mine for 5 & 1/2 minutes per pound.
For example for a 10 pound roast I roast for 55 minutes and then leave it in the oven for 2 hours.
That is it.
Easy!
Just make sure the oven stays closed for those 2 hours and it will come out perfect every time.

About a year or so ago someone on this board posted a "foolproof" Prime Rib Method. Sorry I can't give them credit I wish I knew who it was because I have used this method a lot since then and it works perfect each time.
