Grandma's Apple Crisp
Recipe for 8 X 8 inch pan:
6 Tablespoons butter
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
5-6 cups sliced apples
1/2 cup water (or less)

Recipe for a 9 x 13 pan:
8 Tablespoons butter
1 cup flour
1 1/4 cup sugar
10-12 cups thinly sliced apples
2/3 cup water (or less)

Mix butter, flour and sugar together until crumbly, then set aside.
Peel and slice enough apples to cover the bottom of the pan..nice and thick.
Sprinkle apples with cinnamon then pour 1/2 cup(or less) water over the apples.
Cover with topping mixture.
Bake at 375º F until lightly browned on top...45-55 minutes, depending on the oven.

These recipes are from my grandmother and I think you will find they are very good. You can use less water and I think you really can cut down the sugar for the topping. I plan to use Splenda the next time I make this. Many people use oatmeal for the topping, but this is our all time favorite.
