2 (10-ounce) packages frozen spinach, cooked in unsalted water, thoroughly drained, then cooled
2 cups sour cream
1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 envelope dry onion soup mix, such as Lipton's
Buttered Bread Cubes:
1/4 cup margarine or butter, melted
1 1/2 cups large (1/2 to 3/4-inch) white bread cubes (Aunt Audrey used day-old hamburger or hot dog buns)
Preheat oven to 350º F.
Lightly grease a 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
While spinach cools, prepare Buttered Bread Cubes by lightly tossing bread cubes in the melted margarine or butter.
Combine cooled spinach, sour cream, shredded cheese and onion soup mix.
Spoon spinach mixture into prepared baking dish, then top with Buttered Bread Cubes.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until bubbly hot throughout and bread cubes are lightly toasted.
