Tomato Florentine Soup

2 (14-ounce) cans chicken broth
1 (14 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 (12 ounce) can V-8 juice
1 (10 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 Tablespoon sugar or sugar substitute
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach (unthawed)
1 dash nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste
Combine broth, tomatoes, juice, and soup in a saucepan with a wire whisk over medium heat.
Add remaining ingredients.
Allow to heat gently for 30 minutes on medium-low until spinach is tender.
Keep hot without letting it boil.

LuAnnís note: When I make this, I ALWAYS add a second can of condensed tomato soup and 1 cup of cooked rice, but then it's no longer "Shoney's" copycat, is it?!
