Bean with Ham Soup
Call it what you will, this is bean soup cooking at its best!
2 cups dried Great Northern Beans
1 package ham shanks or a leftover ham bone
herbs such as savory, oregano, marjoram
Soak beans over night or do a quick soak (cover with water. Bring to boil. Turn off and let set for about an hour.)
Cook beans until almost done.
Saute vegetables in a little oil.
Add beans and ham and herbs.
Cook until beans are done.
Add sliced hot links about 30 minutes before serving.
Serve with corn bread.
