Okay, okay, never mind what the odd ingredients list looks like--this is great dip! It is slightly sweet, reminiscent of 1000 Island dressing with added body and chunkiness. You really have to try this one for a welcome change. I made it today for DH's football gathering tomorrow, and I halved the recipe just in case it was a bummer. It's very good! Half the recipe still makes a pint, plenty enough.
1 can (10 3/4 ounce) condensed cream of tomato soup
1 (3 ounce) box lemon Jello
12 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup water
1 cup Hellman's mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip)
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 cup green onions, sliced
1 cup chopped pecans
Heat tomato soup, Jello, water, and cream cheese until cheese is melted.
Beat with a mixer.
Add mayonnaise and beat briefly again until well mixed.
Stir in red bell peppers, green onions, and chopped pecans.
Mix well and chill several hours.
Makes about 4 cups.
