Honey Wheat Soft Baked Pretzels
1 package dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 Tablespoon honey
2 cups white flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
egg beaters (for egg wash)
coarse kosher salt
Preheat oven to 425º F.
In mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in the water.
Add the honey and flours.
Mix on low with a dough hook.
Dough should be soft but not sticky.
If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour.
Cover dough and let it rise in a warm place for a half an hour.
Cut dough into 12 pieces.
Roll each piece into ropes about 16 inches long.
To make the pretzels, form rope into a circle, cross ends at the top.
Twist the ends once and lay it down over the bottom of the circle.
Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Put the pretzels on the pan and brush with the egg beaters and sprinkle with the coarse kosher salt.
Bake for about 12 minutes or tops are golden brown.
