Chinese 5-Spice Ribs

After posting the chicken recipe yesterday I thought I might do something similar for the ribs I was serving for dinner. They came out better than good. I may have to abandon my old way of cooking ribs forever!
Ingredients:
4-5 pounds country style pork spare ribs
2-3 Tablespoons Chinese 5-Spice
salt
6 ounces pineapple juice, frozen concentrate
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium shallot, minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups chablis blush wine
salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Place ribs on a foil lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle ribs with 1/2 of the Chinese 5-Spice and salt and rub in.
Turn ribs over and repeat with the rest of the spice.
Place ribs in the oven and cook for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a sauce pan combine the pineapple, garlic, shallot, brown sugar and wine.
Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer.
Simmer sauce for 35 minutes.
After 30 minutes in the oven, turn ribs over and drain any liquid from the pan and return to oven.
At 45 minutes of cooking time, remove ribs from oven and drizzle/baste them with the sauce pouring all the sauce onto the ribs.
Return to the oven and cook for an additional 15 minutes for 1 hour total oven time.
Serve hot.

Posted by oz. For perspective, the ribs are on my turkey platter (I've never found a pig platter!). At 30 minutes I was having trouble turning the ribs as they were already starting to fall apart. Soft, not too sweet and ever so tasty!
