The spelling may not be correct as the true Italian spelling gets mangled when you really don't know Italian!!! I only know a few words and phrases picked up in my early years. Since this was one of those recipes handed down, there was not a written recipe. I watched it being made and came up with the approximate ingredients. I vary it a bit every time I make it.
1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground meat
1 clove garlic
1 chopped onion
1 (14 ounce) can whole tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon oregano
water to fill both cans
1 head cabbage, shredded
Brown meat, garlic and onion in olive oil and drain fat.
Add rest of ingredients and cook on top of stove for about 1 1/2 hours.
Good served with spaghetti, risotto or egg noodles.
