1 1/2 sticks margarine or 3/4 cups, slightly softened
1 1/2 cups flour
3 Tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup nuts, chopped, optional
1 ( 8 ounce ) package cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
4 ounces Cool-Whip (1/2 of an 8 ounce carton)
2 packages of instant pudding-- any flavor
2 1/2 cups milk
Mix margarine, flour and sugar by cutting margarine into the flour and sugar with a pastry blender.
Add chopped nuts if desired.
When crumbly and combined fairly well, pat it into a 9 x 13 inch cake pan and bake at 375°F for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool.
Blend cream cheese, powdered sugar and cool whip with a hand mixer.
Spread over cooled crust.
Then mix 2 packages of instant pudding with the milk until it starts to thicken.
Pour over the other layers.
Refrigerate several hours or overnight to let it set up.
Cut into squares and serve.
