2 pounds fresh asparagus, rinsed and drained, then trimmed
2 heads of garlic, separated into individual cloves, then peeled
4 Tablespoons olive oil (or as needed)
Salt and pepper
Preheat the oven to 400ºF.
Place the prepared asparagus and garlic in a large, shallow-rimmed baking pan.
Drizzle with olive oil, then stir until the asparagus and garlic are well-mixed and evenly coated with oil.
Spread the asparagus into a single layer, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
Roast for 15 minutes, stirring briefly at 5 minute intervals.
If necessary, remove any thinner spears that may be done, then stir again and continue baking for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until the thicker spears are also done.
Serve warm, at room temperature, or cold.
