This is a salad or condiment that reminds me of Mexican pico de gallo.
We liked this. It is very onion-y.
I only used half the amount of salt, since I am trying to cut down on my sodium, but DH said he thought that was plenty. He did say that it needed some black pepper.
I googled this recipe, and got several hits. One version uses ginger and lime juice, but no hot sauce.
I served this as a side dish.
BTW, this is listed as being from Madagascar.
1 cup scallions, finely diced
2 cups tomatoes, finely diced
2 Tablespoons water
1 teaspoon salt
Few drops hot pepper sauce
Combine all in a 1-quart bowl.
Stir lightly and chill.
Serve approximately 1⁄3 cup per portion in small sauce dishes.
Yield: 8 small salads
