12 slices Texas toast (thick slice) or 18 regular white bread
1 small container whipped cream cheese/w strawberries
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 Tablespoons light Karo syrup
6 large eggs
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Fresh strawberries-sliced with sugar and a little lemon juice
Butter a 9x 13-inch baking pan.
Make sandwiches with 2 slices bread and the cream cheese.
Boil together the brown sugar, butter and Karo a minute.
Pour into prepared pan.
Place sandwiches on top, fitting them in. This works best with Texas Toast bread.
Beat the eggs, milk and vanilla together and pour over sandwiches.
Cover and place in fridge overnight.
Next morning, preheat oven to 350ºF.
Prepare the strawberries with sugar and a little lemon, to your taste.
Bake the pan for about 45 minutes.
Serve a sandwich topped with the strawberries and whipped cream for each person. serves 6
