2 1/4 cups flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cups butter, softened
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon brandy extract
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained
powdered sugar for sprinkling
Heat oven to 350ºF.
In large mixer bowl, combine all ingredients except cherries and powdered sugar.
Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often until well mixed, about 2 - 3 minutes.
After mixed, add cherries and fold into batter evenly.
Shape rounded teaspoons into 1-inch balls.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 10 - 15 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
Remove from cookie sheets immediately, cool completely.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
