1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg yolk
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
6 ounces chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (pecans or other nuts can be used)
Cream shortening with brown sugar.
Add vanilla, yolk, flour and salt.
Spread on 16" x 11" jelly roll pan.
Bake at 300ºF for 15 minutes.
Turn off oven.
Spread chocolate chips over top - they will melt as you do this.
Sprinkle nuts over chocolate coating and cut after 10 minutes.
