Homemade Onion Soup MIX (to replace Lipton-type mixes)

This homemade version is much more economical than those little packets and easy to mix and keep on hand. -Nana (Nancy's Kitchen)

Homemade "bulk" mix equals 3 packets store-bought mix

Bulk Mix:
3/4 cup dried minced onion
1/3 cup beef bouillon powder or beef soup base in jar
4 teaspoons onion powder (not onion salt)
Dash of black pepper
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon celery salt*

Single-use Mix:
4 Tablespoons beef bouillon powder
8 teaspoons onion flakes
1 teaspoon onion powder
Dash of pepper, sugar and celery salt

Mix and store in a dry container.

To use: 5 Tablespoons = 1 packet

*If you are concerned with sodium content substitute celery seed or simply omit. You can also find lower sodium versions of bouillon powder in some supermarkets.
