I don't know why it wouldn't work, though. It's kind of novel to bake it in the cans, as it comes out as cute little round loaves, pretty when sliced.
This one doesn't have any molasses taste, although the dates give it somewhat of a "dark" flavor. It's really good; I just don't care for sweets, and I'm avoiding carbs right now anyway. Our daughter asked me to make it last week, so I halved the recipe, gave two loaves to her family and kept one for my DH.
