I think this is a much healthier version than the recipe I already had. My reasoning is the ingredients and the carb count. The recipe I already had used flour and sugar (high carb and not healthy in and of themselves) and Crisco (!!!). And Swerve appears to be an acceptable substitute for sugar, with the caution that in large amounts, it might cause stomach distress in some people. Swerve touts itself as being an all natural sweetener, not artificial.
I'm thinking even diabetics could eat this safely, although that would be up to the individual. I happened to think to check DH's blood sugar an hour after eating a piece, and it read 94. But each person is different.
It's really delicious. Really.
